The Kona Leilani Vacation Home was the perfect “home away from home” for two couples vacationing together in Kona. The huge covered deck overlooking the ocean was the perfect perfect place to eat breakfast and listen to the birds; relax in the shade after a day at the beach, and watch the sunset with a glass of wine The inside of the the home was gorgeous, spacious, and very well appointed. The two bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs offered comfy beds and plenty of drawers and closet space: The studio downstairs (which we did not use) was also lovely so three couples could easily share this home.
Michelle sent several friendly letters before our trip and gave us lots of information about restaurants and things to do in the area: Ron even called during our stay to see if there was anything else we needed.
The location was good for visiting the historical sites and coffee farms located south of Kona. There are several beaches not far away also . We used the beach chairs provided to watch the sunset at the black beach just below the house and to spend a day relaxing at the Ho okena Beach
We loved the all local restaurants with such friendly people. We were told to try Malasadas on the island (Portuguese donuts) and we were delighted to find them at the colorful Ron’s bakery . We had 6 donuts with guava cream for $5 and that included four small Kona coffees for free! Ron bakes, cooks the food, and serves the customers all by himself and does it with joy and humor: Another local highlight was our visit to the Donkey Ball Factory. The women who run the place are hysterical and their candy features some of the best chocolate we have tasted.
Thank you Michelle and Ron for helping us make our visit to The Big Island such a memorable one.
